Given the COVID-19 pandemic, and the resultant work-from-home environment, I wanted to make sure that my new Chromebook's battery life didn't suffer from being plugged in and heating up all day, or from power cycling too often (opens in a new tab).

The solution was clunky but functional, a chrome extension using the battery status API that lets me turn a smart outlet (with my computer charger connected to it) on and off and pre-defined charge levels - which (according to battery university (opens in a new tab)) can increase your battery lifetime by up to 25,000%!
